What is GastroHub, in short?

GastroHub is your own ordering system on the web. A website with your menu, a cart and a checkout, where your guests order directly with you. You see every order instantly on your phone, you collect payments through your own account, and you keep all the customer data. No middleman. No aggregator between you and your guest.

Is it only for delivery operations?

Accepted Answer

No. GastroHub fits any food business that takes orders: pizzerias, snack bars, bistros, restaurants, caterers, bakeries with pre-orders, even food trucks with fixed routes. You can offer delivery, pickup, or both. If your guests want to order with you rather than scroll through an anonymous platform menu, GastroHub is for you.

How is GastroHub different from a regular website?

Accepted Answer

A website shows who you are, where you are and what you cook. That's it. GastroHub additionally: takes orders, checks the delivery zone, charges securely via credit card, PayPal, bank transfer, Wero and all common online payment methods, sends the order instantly to your phone or POS system, and gives you a dashboard for menu, opening hours and statistics. That's the difference between a business card and a cash register.

How is GastroHub different from the big delivery apps?

Accepted Answer

Three things. First: the order lands directly with you, not through a foreign system that hides your brand. Second: your customers are your customers. You see names, email addresses and order history, and you can reach those guests for repeat orders or promotions. Third: you pay 0%, 7% or a fixed monthly fee depending on the model, instead of 13 to 30% at the big aggregators.

What does GastroHub cost?

Accepted Answer

There are three models. In the One-Time Payment model you pay a custom setup fee once, then you own the platform outright. No commission on revenue. Technical support is billed separately on a time-and-materials basis. Hosting is billed at €25 per month. In the Growth model you pay 7% per transaction, with no setup fee. No monthly minimum. Support, updates and maintenance are fully included. In the Flat rate model you pay a fixed monthly fee (€50 for the first 3 months, then €75), no matter how many orders you get. Support is included, you get a tablet and printer for free, and we cover your first flyers. We give you the exact setup price for the One-Time Payment model after a short call, because it depends on menu size, delivery zones and your current data setup.

What does 13 to 30% commission actually mean in money?

Accepted Answer

Work it out. With €10,000 in monthly revenue, a platform taking 20% commission takes €2,000 per month. That's €24,000 per year. At 25% it's €30,000. Restaurants typically work on a 5 to 8% net margin. So the platform often takes more from each order than what's left for you. With GastroHub, the same revenue stays with you, minus a transparent setup fee or 7% commission.

Which model is better for me?

One-Time Payment pays off if you think long-term and don't want revenue-based commission. You pay once for setup and then own the platform outright. Growth pays off if you want to start small without high upfront costs. You pay only 7% per transaction, with no setup fee and no monthly minimum, and support, updates and maintenance fully included. Flat rate pays off if you want predictable costs no matter how many orders come in: a fixed monthly fee (€50 for the first 3 months, then €75), support included, plus a free tablet and printer and your first flyers on us. All three models are significantly cheaper than the big aggregators. In the first call we work through your real numbers to see which model works best for you.

Are there any hidden costs?

No. What's in the offer is our full price. On top, Stripe fees apply, roughly 1.5% plus 25 cents per successful card transaction. Those go directly to Stripe and are standard in any online payment system. You see every single fee in your Stripe dashboard. There are no sponsored listings, no premium-placement surcharges, no mandatory ad budgets. In the One-Time Payment model, technical support is billed separately on a time-and-materials basis and hosting is €25 per month. In the Growth model, support is fully included.

But I'm happy with my current delivery app. Why change?

Three questions many restaurant owners ask themselves at the end of the month. Who earned more today, me or the app? Which of my regulars ordered today, and do I know who they are? What if the app changes its terms tomorrow or suspends me for two weeks? If even one of those answers makes you uneasy, a 10-minute call is worth it. We're not asking for more than that.

I already have a website from a website builder. Isn't that enough?

Accepted Answer

A website-builder site shows the restaurant, but it rarely actually takes orders. Most builders have no integrated ordering system with Stripe, no delivery-zone logic, no direct receipt printing in the kitchen, no automatic notifications. In the end, many restaurants pay for their builder and on top for an expensive delivery app, because the website alone is not a cash register. With GastroHub, both are one.

What happens to my current regulars when I switch?

Regulars who already order with you directly (email, phone, in person) you keep right away. Regulars who currently order through a delivery app are technically unknown to you, because the platform doesn't pass on names or contact details. You win them back gradually by making your own ordering page visible on business cards, a flyer in the bag, a QR code on the door or on the menu. We walk you through the transition, you don't have to plan it alone.

Isn't this too complicated for me? I'm not technical.

Accepted Answer

You don't need any technical skills. We set the platform up for you, import your menu, configure delivery zones and opening hours. Day to day you just use a dashboard on your smartphone, similar to a WhatsApp or banking app. Accepting orders takes one click. If you can use a smartphone, you can use GastroHub.

Question 13

Do I have to cancel my current platform immediately?

Accepted Answer

No. Many restaurants run both in parallel at the start: they keep collecting orders through the old platform while building their own ordering page. Once your own page brings in more direct orders, you can cancel the platform or keep it running alongside. The decision is yours. We don't pressure you.

Question 14

Who owns the customer data?

Accepted Answer

You do. All data from your end customers (names, addresses, orders, favourite dishes) belongs exclusively to your restaurant. We process this data as your processor under GDPR Art. 28, and we never pass it on to third parties, to anyone, not even to other restaurants. With the big delivery apps it's the other way round: the platform collects the data, you don't get to see it.

What can I actually do with my customer data?

You can recognise returning guests, send them a quarterly newsletter with new dishes, send targeted discounts to inactive guests, analyse their favourite dishes and refine your menu accordingly. You can also export the data as a CSV file any time. It stays yours, even if one day you leave GastroHub.

Can I see who ordered what and when?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In the dashboard you see the order history by guest, by day, by dish or by delivery zone. You see which dishes sell particularly well, which days are your strongest, which regulars haven't ordered in the last few weeks. This information helps you make targeted decisions. Today this data may be flying through the servers of an app that hides it from you.

How long does setup take?

Usually two to four weeks after you've given us your menu and photos. We set up menu, categories, allergens, delivery zones, opening hours and the Stripe account, review everything with you, and after a short test order you go live.

What do I need to provide so you can get started?

Accepted Answer

Your current menu (PDF, Excel or an existing website is fine), photos of your main dishes (phone photos are fine if you don't have professional shots), your opening hours, the postcodes you deliver to, your logo file and your legal details (imprint information). If any pieces are missing, we help.

Do I need any technical skills for day-to-day operation?

Accepted Answer

No. In the dashboard you edit dishes, prices and opening hours as easily as in a notes app. You accept or decline orders with one click. Status updates to the customer go out automatically. If something more complex is needed (new delivery zone, rename a category), we handle it on request, no extra charge in the maintenance model.

How do I find out about a new order?

Accepted Answer

Instantly, without needing any extra hardware on the counter. A new order appears as a notification on your phone (via Telegram and email, both in parallel) and on your laptop or PC. You tap once to accept, and the customer automatically gets a confirmation with the estimated delivery time. If your POS system supports an API, we additionally print the order directly at your end. Our goal is to offer you the best price, not to sell expensive add-on devices. If you'd still prefer your own device, we'll happily set it up for you.

How are payments handled?

Online via Stripe Connect (credit card, PayPal, and depending on your Stripe settings also Sofort, Klarna, Apple Pay, Google Pay). Optionally you can also enable cash on delivery or pickup. The money goes directly into your Stripe account, usually onto your bank account within two business days.

What happens if I have to decline an order (kitchen full, too late, too far)?

Accepted Answer

You can decline any order with one click and give a short reason ("kitchen at capacity", "outside delivery hours", "ingredient unavailable"). The customer is notified and, for online payments, automatically refunded in full. No fees from us, no manual handling for you.

Who actually delivers the food?

Accepted Answer

You do, with your own driver or a courier service of your choice. GastroHub does not handle delivery itself. We only provide the ordering system and keep your guests up to date on the status in real time. Logistics stays with you, the same as today.

Question 24

Is GastroHub GDPR-compliant?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The ordering platform is built according to GDPR. You sign a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with us under Art. 28 GDPR before the first end customer orders. We use only technically necessary cookies, no tracking, no advertising cookies. End-customer data is processed exclusively on servers in Germany. Details are in our privacy policy.

Question 25

Where is my data and my guests' data stored?

Accepted Answer

Application data (menu, orders, customer information) runs exclusively on servers in Germany. There is no data transfer to the USA or other third countries. Only the marketing website gastrohub.dev runs via GitHub Pages, separate from the ordering platform. Payments via Stripe may be transferred to the USA under GDPR-compliant Standard Contractual Clauses; Stripe is DPF-certified for this purpose.

What about allergens and legal obligations?

You maintain allergens and additives per dish directly in the dashboard, and the customer sees them before ordering. The system is designed for German and EU rules on food-information regulation (LMIV / EU FIC 1169/2011). Responsibility for the accuracy of the content lies with you as the restaurant operator; the system makes the data entry as easy as possible.

Do I have a separate contract with Stripe?

Accepted Answer

Yes. For online payment processing you set up your own Stripe Connect account, with your bank details and proof of business. Stripe is your payment processor; GastroHub is only the platform that integrates it. That's the legal standard and it protects you: you have full control over your revenue and could keep working with Stripe even without GastroHub if needed.

What about the Button-Lösung and the right of withdrawal?

The Button-Lösung (§ 312j para. 3 BGB) is integrated into the checkout flow: the end customer confirms what they buy, at what price and with what delivery cost before clicking "Zahlungspflichtig bestellen" (order with obligation to pay). For food orders, the statutory right of withdrawal under § 312g BGB para. 2 nos. 2 and 4 does not apply (perishable goods and food prepared on the spot). This is reflected cleanly in the platform's terms (AGB).

How do I reach support?

By email at kontakt@gastrohub.dev. On working days we usually reply the same or next day. In the Growth model (7%), support is included without limit. In the one-time payment model we bill support on a time-and-materials basis, in 15-minute increments, always announced in advance.

Question 30

How long am I committed to a contract?

Accepted Answer

Under the commission model (Growth) the contract runs for an indefinite term and may be terminated by either party in text form with 30 days' notice to the end of the calendar month. Under the Flat rate model the contract runs monthly; the exact termination conditions are stated in the individual offer. Under the One-Time Payment model, the term arises from the individual offer. Extraordinary termination for cause remains possible at any time.

Can I offer my menu in multiple languages?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The platform currently supports German, English, Arabic and Turkish, simultaneously in the same system. Your guest picks the language, you maintain the texts once per language. More languages can be added on request. Useful in neighbourhoods with a mixed customer base, tourist locations or caterers with international corporate clients.

What happens if the platform goes down?

Accepted Answer

We aim for very high availability (server location Germany, mirrored data storage, regular backups). A specific availability is not guaranteed, that would be irresponsible. In case of an outage, we're available as fast as possible. Maintenance is scheduled, where possible, outside typical ordering hours (early morning). If the worst happens, you can keep taking orders by phone; your data is not lost.
